Interactive dessert bars don't only have to saved for only large scale events.  There are some really fun and easy dessert bars that you can throw together in your own home for small parties or even a fun family dessert night.  Fall is an especially great time for dessert bars, so many seasonal treats that are perfect with an interactive twist!

Caramel Apple Bar

Who doesn't love a sweet, tart, crunchy caramel apple in the fall!?  Now, you could dip whole apples for this cupcake bar, but I prefer to slice the apples instead, because let's face it, dipping apple slices in caramel is way easier than fussing with an entire apple.  All you need to set up is a plate of apple slices (bonus points for having different kinds of apples), a bowl of caramel sauce, and small bowls of your favorite toppings.  With toppings, the sky's the limit, but my favorites are peanuts, mini chocolate chips, chopped up Reese's peanut butter cups, toffee, sea salt, and sprinkles!

S'mores Bar

No fire pit, no problem!  The best way to do this bar indoors is with sternos, which caterers use to keep hot food warm.  You can't go wrong with the good old standard Hershey's chocolate and Graham crackers, but let's get creative!  Use different types of chocolate and candy, like dark chocolate squares, caramel filled Ghirardelli squares and Reese's peanut butter cups.  In addition to good old grahams, how about your favorite cookies, like an Oreo or chocolate chip!  If you want to offer even more variety, consider offering a few different flavors of Marshmallows.  XO Marshmallow has some super creative and fun flavors.
